Yesterday I was twenty-eight. And you guys... I was anxious. Yesterday, I felt like life had gathered this momentum and was speeding by so fast. I felt like there wasn't enough space in the world to accommodate all the grand adventures to be had with the very-necessary daily grind. I felt like there wasn't enough time to do everything I want to do - to become the person I want to be. Add a documentary about a plane crashing into the ocean plus my biological clock to the equation and I was just a mess of "We're going to die! There's not enough time! What are we going to do!?"

After a night full of dreams about scuba diving around plane wreckage and back-seat make-outs I woke up twenty-nine. Twenty-nine. I buried my face into that space between Jeremy's clavicle and the bottom of his earlobe and inhaled deeply - in that space things felt a little more calm.

There's still plenty of time to do it all. Or at least I'll die trying.

Happy Birthday!

I recently turned 29 too ... I cannot believe it!

It feels both incredibly ancient, but also remarkably young.

:) xo

Happy happy bday. Enjoy it. There is time for everything, just enjoy each moment!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Happy birthday! You are a very lovely 29-year-old capable of doing whatever your heart desires! Enjoy! xo.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday! I felt the same way when I turned 29...But this year when I turned 30 it was really calming. Like I was entering a beautiful new phase of adult life, and wonderful things were ahead of me. So much left to experience! I can't wait!

happy, happy birthday!

Happy Birthday! 29 is so young - trust me when I tell you that the best really is yet to come. Enjoy it! And also, these pictures of you are gorgeous. I especially love the last one. Get out there and celebrate!

Aw, happy birthday, Kathleen!

I feel your emotions. I'll be 35 soon. Thirty-five. It's a lot and not really. I have to get on the bus though cause I hear that clock ticking away.

May you have a fabulous birthday!!

Happy birthday!

happy birthday! plenty of time to have children...climb all those mountains first!

happy happy birthday!!

Happy Birthday to you! Hope your year is filled with good challenges, adventures, and fun. (I turn 37 this month and can promise that your 30s won't be anything to be afraid of.)

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes.

I suppose I should clarify - I'm not afraid of getting older. Each year keeps getting better. What I'm afraid of is dying without having accomplished everything I want to do.

I'm looking forward to what's yet to come. I just want time to slow down a little bit so I can do it all.

Happy Birthday, sister wife! I love you to bits and pieces and all the gooey stuff in between. xo

Happiest birthday!

I know what you mean - so so much I want to accomplish in this life & time is just racing by. If I even just think of all the places I want to travel to - oh my.

Happy Birthday!

I'll be turning 36 next week - and wow - yes, it does go by so fast....

if I could go back to myself at 29, I would be adamant, and say "DO NOT WAIT"

I mean, at the right time, but just make sure you do it

Kathleen, you are already so far ahead of most of us - just keep on keepin' on, girl! ROCK OUT WITH YOUR.... oh, well, I guess that might be a better thing for guys - what's the girl equivalent for that?

happy birthday! i turned 29 last month. it's an interesting time, isn't it? the precipice between the 20s and 30s!

BTW. i just love that blackboard background. what a beautiful texture it provides. fabu!

Yes, I know that panic...I'm 35...there IS still time, there has to be - and you're right, we'll all die tryin!! Happy Birthday young child!!

I wish I could say it will slow down but it gets faster. Hope you have a wonderful birthday, speeding-time and all.

MWAH! Now off to do some living.

I'm telling my biological clock to shut up, also.

Happy Birthday Kathleen! And don't worry - there's still plenty of time for everything!

Happy birthday lady!

HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY!!

I turn 27 in June, and it is killing me! When I was a kid, twenty-seven was the age I assumed I would be an actual adult - and of course, when you are an adult you are cool and collected.

Damned if that isn't true. Oh well.

happy 29th!!!!!!

Happy birthday! Um, a day late. But better late than never!

happy day late birthday!

Hpppy Birthday! I have a feeling that if anyone could really get it all done it would be you!

And I am pregnant with my first at 34 and it doesn't feel too late in the least, so there is that.

Happy birthday! From the vantage point of mid-way through 30, I'm not sure that whole "Ohmigod there's not enough time" feeling will ever completely go away...here's hoping it doesn't, actually - it spurs you to do new, better, amazing things, right?!

Happy belated birthday!!

As for being a mess of "We're going to die! There's not enough time! What are we going to do!?" I've been there regularly and I haven't even hit 23 yet! In fact, if there's any alcohol involved I turn into a sobbing/laughing[?] wreck over that statement. Sometimes I'm even referred to as the "we're all just food for the worms" girl.
You're absolutely right though - and there's no better way to put it - we will get our dreams and hopes taken care of or die trying. :)
So happy birthday - You look absolutely beautiful!

Happy Birthday 29 Kathleen~~and might I say, you wear it well!

xoxoxox

Happy Belated Birthday! Your pictures are BEAUTIFUL! I turn 29 this September and I'm anxious but not as anxious as my hubby who's about to turn the big 3-0! I hope your birthday was super happy!

Happy Birthday!

Twenty-nine is such a good year and let me tell you why: it's a prime number. Okay, that may not mean anything to you, but I think it's pretty special. I'm a day or two late, but a very happy birthday to one of the most beautiful, stylish and talented women I know!

happy twenty-nine to you and your freaking KILLER hair.

Happy Birthday, lady! :)

I just turned 29 a couple weeks ago. I keep looking around going "am I a grown-up yet?"

Hey! I just found you via Meg at A Practical Wedding. I turned 28 on May 6th. It is a scary, scary thing to be in my late twenties but you look like you're handling it beautifully! I'm totally jealous of how beautifully you're doing grown up things. It's actually inspiring. So thanks!

Google deepest pool in the world - fr-eakkky!!! http://www.anvari.org/cols/Deepest_Pool_in_the_World/

Escher meets underwater in the 21stC!

You're so young! Plenty of time left to explore and seek adventure...

Thanks again everyone for the sweet birthday wishes!

Meredyth - Happy birthday to you too!

RipeDesign - I thought your comment was spam for a second but that pool is AMAZING. Are you telling me I should go there? Because I think I should.

i had a very similar feeling of panic when i turned 29 a couple of months ago. what's up with that??

Happy Birthday!! Sorry it's so belated!! I hope you enjoyed yourself! oxox
