At the end of the day.

This week has been a doozy! Here are some things that happened:
• I busted out my vintage typewriter for a web project I'm working on. Ironic, no?
Amy has a big ol' crush on me. So, I told her a bunch of secrets.
• We had another snow storm!
I hosted a (rare) give-away. I'm announcing the winner tomorrow morning! So enter now if you haven't yet.
• I started doing a really hard work out that involves "before" pictures.
• I Googled "Costa Rica vacations" but I'm really terrible at Googling. If you guys have any Costa Rica (or other not super touristy beachy vacation) ideas I'm open to recommendations!
• I got the sweetest email ever from a blog reader. You people mean a lot to me - sweet emails and comments or not. I hope you know that.
• You guys also sent me some really great soup recipes!
• I lived in my wrist worms.
• I discovered that if you get pregnant on February 18 that your baby's due date will be 11/11/11. Coincidentally, Jeremy's birthday is February 18. Oh la la! So maybe a little bit of my baby-crazy is creeping back but it will still be a while before we add any bebes to this family.

Did you guys have a good week?

You should check out San Juan del sur, Nicaragua. Costa rica is so touristy these days. San Juan is my absolute favorite place... Traveler friendly but not a tourist destination. I will guarantee that you will meet at least one person who will change your life.

I have pictures on my travel blog, pushpindiaries.word press.com

My husband and i will be traveling down the cost of central and south America for the next year so hit us up if you need Ny advice or hookups.

Of course that due date is only if your baby cooperates... Unlikely. I've heard those fetuses can be slippery characters. :)

Tamarindo, Costa Rica! Been there, and loved it! We stayed at a resort but the town was with in hiking distance [we did that one day]. It was great but be sure you check out their seasons. We went at the end of their RAIN season and the water was really muddy and gross. But the weather after that was AMAZING!

Happy Weekend!!!

pppaaaiiigggeee - (type that out three times fast!) Thank you, thank you! I'm definitely going to check it out.

BriannEm - Oh, I know. I just thought it was a funny coincidence.

Kelly - Oh, I'll check it out! Thank you!

One of my really good friends is currently saving sea turtles in Costa Rica. I'll ask her if she has any recommendations.

Well. I have a new dream job. It's saving sea turtles.

Thanks, Vanessa - I'd love a recommendation!

DUDE. I was supposed to go to Costa Rica with my science class in high school but we didn't raise enough money. Major bummer.

We just went in May and had a MIND BLOWING time!!! If you go, you must must must go to Tortuguero. Must. I can send you our itinerary, daily cost-break down (I noted every cent we spent), and pictures, if you would like.
It was a GREAT trip.
Highlights were: Arenal Volcano; standing 2' behind a leatherback turtle laying eggs at midnight on the beach; spider, capucin, and howler monkeys, sloths, tucans, caymans; zip lines; gorgeous state park beach at Manuel Antonio (where a spider monkey got into our backpack while we were in the water and ran away with our picnic!)... Bliss. You will love it.
"Pura vida!"

Hi there! I'm delurking, but have been reading your blog for awhile. I found you by googling Mt. Everest, which is a topic I am obsessed with. : ) You have such an inspirational blog! Love stopping in to read- I'm from Arkansas.

I agree with Paige and encourage you to check out some other locales in central America. Costa Rica IS lovely, but it's really heavily touristed. I spent a month there in 2006, most of it in Manuel Antonio on the Pacific side, Volcan Arenal in the center of the country, and Puerto Viejo on the Carribbean side.

If you DO go to Costa Rica and are looking for something off the beaten path, I'd recommend NOT going to Tamarindo. The locals call it 'Tamagringo,' which tells you everything you need to know about it.

A friend of mine who lived in CR for a couple of years says his favorite place in the entire nation is Mal Pais.

The roads are beyond atrocious, so never, ever try to estimate how long it will take you to get somewhere based on distance. Ha!

I also spent some time in Panama - specifically in Bocas del Toro, a little chain of islands on the Carribbean side, way up in the northeast of the country and absolutely adored it.

Nicaragua is also highly recommended.

I think there may be some busy couples on February 18th...

Have a fantastic weekend, Kathleen!

BIG week.

happiness and blessings to you.

xoxo

About the non-touristic place...friends of mine opened a little hotel in Salvador...here's the link.

they did a terrific job!

hope it helps :)

ps: you don't need to be a surfer to go there, it's really a cool spot.

when you do have babies, i picture them being carted around in one of these - http://daddytypes.com/2011/02/11/here_are_strollers_made_from_russian_submarine_mines.php

Nicole - That is so rad! Haha - thanks for the link!

I've heard about some great non-touristy destinations in Puerto Rico. You just have to stay away from San Juan. I've always wanted to go to Vieques (small island off of Puerto Rico) and stay at this place called the Hix Island House. It looks amazing - google it!

And thanks again for stopping by Old Sweet Song. XO.
