Around OKC: Wednesday night

Wednesday night is typically reserved for cooking a hot meal for all of my friends, drinking beer and wine, good conversation and sometimes trashy TV. Last night Jeremy and I decided to call it off and take the night for ourselves. We had sushi (Pachinko Parlor in OKC has the most interesting vegetarian rolls), split a bottle of sake, and explored our neighborhood.
a.
Merkel X-Ray Co. = gorgeous type + blonde brick
b.
The Century = blonde brick + color blocks + deco corner windows
I first became obsessed with this what-might-be-a-halfway-house building when Jeremy had his appendix removed (on our honeymoon, in case you forgot) at the hospital across the street.
c.
The Case Study House = concrete + glass + patina metal
While I love the coziness of our little historical home I can't help but fall in love with this super modern house. I'm sure living in a space this gorgeous would have to come with a trade-off - like you'd have to be living the life of Julia Roberts in Sleeping With the Enemy. Or at least that's what I'm going to tell myself in order to keep myself from dying with envy. Because I die looking at this house. I do.
P.S. These were photographed with our new iPhones. Yes, we've finally joined the oh-oh's and got ourselves phones that can do everything for us.

Ohhhh my god- I LOVE those corner windows on The Century!! I have to edit what the dream house in my head looks like now.
love, rudi
I love the deep soffits on the Merkel building. Are those lights over the sign? How tall is the building, is it visually interesting on the main floor? I would totally google stalk that.
Jacqueline - it's all brick all the way down to the ground.
Here street view it: 288 NW 9th St, Oklahoma City, OK, United States
hi j&K! i just stumbled upon your sweet sweet blog via my best friend lily's blog (bigbang) and it's lovely! i look forward to following your adventures in the future! xo, kate
Hi Kate! I'm glad you stumbled in our direction. I love making new friends over here and absolutely adore your best friend's blog!
Oh the case study house! I was the intern at the architectural firm who designed and built this! I can't take any credit although I did get to help pick out the kitchen appliances!! So happy to see it getting noticed! It was on the AIA home tour this year, there's a good chance it will make another appearance next April!! Just FYI- what you refereed to as the patina'd metal is actually steel sheets. It's made to rust to that beautiful orangish/red color without compromising the structural quality! (yes I know it's weird that I get excited about rusted steel..)
Rachel - That is so cool! I actually got to meet Bill, the owner, yesterday. I'm going to do a little post about it this afternoon but he had great things to say about you and John. :)
